Crimebeat Proud to Continue Support Street Aware
The Street Aware schools drug and alcohol educational programme, is designed to help young people in Warwickshire build their resilience to enable them to make safer life choices with regard to substance misuse and risky behaviour.
Last year, with the support of Crime Beat funding, the Street Aware programme has launched a successful Youth Ambassador Scheme and a group of young people aged 16 to 19, have been trained to OCN Accredited levels on substance misuse, this enables the youth ambassadors to go into schools and the community to deliver peer lead education.
The latest instalment of funding from Crime Beat was presented by the new High Sheriff Mark Davies, who is a trustee of the Kenilworth based Charity, their aim is to create safer communities and a better environment for us all to live and work in. The cheque was received by Sevenco Training CIC Directors together with some of the youth ambassadors that have successfully completed their training.
The Ambassadors have already delivered their important work to over 20,000 young people in the last year.
Sevenco Training’s MD Richard Smith said “the Street Aware programme is a vital and necessary piece of community educational work and the Youth Ambassador Scheme is a fantastic development that highlights the importance of knowledgeable young voices talking to young minds, we are greatly indebted to Crime Beat for their support, in making the Youth Ambassador Scheme a reality”
“Warwickshire Crimebeat is delighted to be able to sponsor such a great cause as Sevenco’s Street Aware programme. The Ambassadors to an excellent job in spreading the word about the dangers of drugs and alcohol but it also gives them confidence and a qualification”
