Atherstone Girls Friendly Society

For the Adventure Weekend, some 18 girls took part and faced challenging activities they wouldn’t normally do, gaining confidence, feeling good about achievements, encouraging each other and building relationships. It was amazing to see how they supported and encouraged each other.

For the Weekend Camp for younger girls, some 17 younger girls took part helped out by 6 older girls, facing fears of being away from home, taking part in activities, learning to look after themselves, making new friends and learning social skills.  The older girls learned leadership skills and building relationships, through experiencing responsibility.

For the Summer Camp some 10 girls took part, facing fears of being away from home for a week, most for first time, learning camp skills, cooking skills, social skills, building relationships in teams/tents with girls they didn’t previously know well, having fun, becoming more confident in themselves, learning leadership skills and teamwork skills, enjoying a safe countryside environment especially the wood, having a fun, safe and happy week.  Great to build one to one relationships with the girls other than youth leader to girl relationships and for girls to feel confident sharing with us and each other and being open.
